Director's Message

A Message from the Director of Spark Academy

Denis Mailloux
Mr. Denis Mailloux, Director

Welcome to our website! We are Spark Academy of Advanced Technologies, a public charter high school dedicated to preparing young men and women for the opportunities waiting for them in so many new technical fields.

This is a serious school, where students are expected to be their best. With hard work and dedication, Spark students can graduate with certification in advanced manufacturing and trade careers as they receive their high school diplomas. We know that career opportunities are exploding for people who are well-trained for the world of trade work, advanced manufacturing, and other technology-rich careers.

We know that doors will open for our students if they have solid preparation in math and science; therefore, we take those subjects very seriously. Spark students are able to study math at their own pace through the ALEKS program and have the benefit of a math coach to provide additional assistance. Spark science classes are of a more traditional format and are designed to help provide a sound foundation for technology classes.

Through our humanities curriculum, Spark students learn through an integrated approach to history, English, writing skills, civics, art and music, etc. Our students learn how math and science play a huge role in our history. They also learn how important technology has been from the very beginning of human history, from the use of tools and fire to the discovery of quantum physics and beyond. From energy to communication, the things we often take for granted have had a huge effect on the development of civilization.

Everyone has his or her own gifts. Everyone can learn. Everyone deserves a chance to succeed. Spark Academy is here to challenge students to work hard, learn all they can, and find their way to rewarding lives.

We are passionate about the possibilities for our students in the world of advanced technologies. I look forward to meeting you and to helping your daughter or son grow to become a responsible and fulfilled adult in our ever-changing world.

You may submit the admissions application online or by printing and mailing it  to us. Open house dates will be posted on our homepage and Facebook page. You may also have your student spend a day or half-day visiting sitting in on classes. Just call to set the date for your visit. We look forward to meeting you!

Sincerely,

Denis Mailloux
